Restored trails on campus

For 75 years Pigeon Creek was restrained by the seminary dam at the western limits of the village of Thiensville. Today Pigeon Creek again runs free.

In the mid-1830s German settlers arriving in the wilderness of Wisconsin chose the confluence of Pigeon Creek and the Milwaukee River for the location of the settlement that became Thiensville. At that time the only land transportation routes in the area were the trails along the rivers.

Over the years these trails became overgrown and impassable. This summer the seminary grounds crew cleared walking paths, built footbridges, and placed benches along various routes. The seminary family commemorated the restoration of the Pigeon Creek watershed and the renovation of the walking trails with a dedication ceremony and a campus-wide walk/hike/bike ride.

The trails are open to the public. Maps are available in the administration office.
