Collection

The Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Library collection contains approximately 50,000 volumes. This collection supports the study and research needs of the Seminary students and faculty, as well as WELS pastors, teachers and members throughout the world.

The library features several special collections, including:

  1. The Kurt J. Eggert Liturgical and Hymnological collection:
    containing liturgies and hymnals from a variety of denominations.
  2. The World Mission Collection:
    evangelism, Bible study, and other materials in over 30 different languages.
  3. Essay files:
    over 2,000 essays written by WELS pastors and professors for presentation at WELS conferences.

While school is in session:

Monday-Thursday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | 6:30 PM-11:00 PM
Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Sunday | 6:30 PM-11:00 PM

Summer hours

Tuesdays and Thursdays | 8:00 AM-4:00 PM

Summer Quarter hours:

Monday-Thursday | 7:15 AM-10:00 PM
Friday | 7:15 AM-5:00 PM

Lending Policy

Enrolled students and WLS faculty members:
Items checked out at any time become due at the end of the third quarter. All items are subject to recall two weeks after the initial checkout.

WELS called workers listed in the Synod Yearbook:
Items may be checked out for two months and are renewable once for two more months. All items are subject to recall two weeks after the initial checkout.

MLC and WLC students:
Upon presentation of current student identification, items may be checked out for one month and are renewable once for one more month. All items are subject to recall two weeks after the initial checkout.

Other WELS members:
The WLS Library will loan materials to WELS members not in the above-listed categories upon approval of a completed application. Items may be checked out for one month and are renewable once for one more month. All items are subject to recall two weeks after the initial checkout.

Books-by-Mail:
The above lending policies also apply to items requested through our Books-by-Mail program. To request books from the Books-by-Mail program, please send an email to library@wls.wels.net.

Non-WELS patrons:
The WLS Library will loan materials on-site to people who are not members of a WELS congregation upon approval of a completed application accompanied by a $25 application fee. Items may be checked out for one month and are renewable once for one more months. All items are subject to recall two weeks after the initial checkout. Items will be loaned only to patrons who appear in person. Books-by-Mail service is not available to this patron category.

Infopass:
The WLS Library participates in the Infopass program and will lend items to any patron of a participating library upon presentation of a valid Infopass.
