Partners for the Future

A letter from President Paul O. Wendland

Dear friends of the Seminary,

In soaring language, the Apostle Paul describes how our victorious Lord still cares for his Church today. “He gives some...to be pastors and teachers.” How true that is! This year we saw 46 students walk through the arch for the first time on their way to class. Christ is still giving his gifts. Since 1863 this seminary has been training pastors for the world wide mission of WELS. All of us who serve here are deeply grateful that Jesus in his grace allows sinners like us to be a part of that great gospel work of giving pastors to his church. We are also very thankful for individuals like you who carry the seminary on your heart. You are our partners in the gospel. Your support allows us to continue to train solid pastors who not only cling to the saving truths of God’s inspired Word but who are eager to share it with others.

The mission of ministerial education increasingly depends upon regular annual gifts from individuals to meet day-to-day costs. As valuable as the regular, ongoing mission offerings from the local churches are, our synod recognizes that we also need to provide opportunities for individual donors to give their faith-born gifts directly to the schools. Your gift will be important for helping us maintain the high standards you expect from the school where our synod’s pastors are trained. It will ensure a quality faculty, reduce student debt, provide ministerial experiences for students, and provide consistent support for day-to-day operations.

I ask you prayerfully to consider today how you could support this aspect of the Lord’s work with the blessings that he has given to you. Please feel free to contact Kevin Keller, our Director of Mission Advancement, in our new advancement office at 262-242-8179 or toll free at 1-800-943-0167, with any questions that you might have. We appreciate your help. We go forward together with God's help and in his service.

Sincerely In Christ,

Paul O. Wendland
